I think it was Napoleon who said "I would rather have a lucky general than a skilled, but unlucky one". It may have sounded slightly different in French, but you know what I mean.

Postscript : OK, got the number wrong. Sentiment is the same. And, that is what happens when you don't have luck, or skill. At least I'm not Malcolm.
