I don't, well I do, understand the desperation to be the underdog in an election campaign. However, I think it went a step to far with Tony Abbott declaring himself the underdog for the next campaign. It all became too surreal.

I don't know if you saw QI last week, and in particular the discussion about horizontal stripes making fat people look thinner, at least until everyone expects them to, then its vertical stripes that achieve the effect. The underdog is a little like that. It may have been powerful when no one was aware of the effect, but now we all are aware you are just a dog.
